Field Trips (Western Cape)

There is a lot of places to visit in the Western Cape. At first, this will be a list of possible outings. I will update as we visit the various places!

 

Academic

  • The Book Lounge – The Book Lounge is an independent bookshop in the Eastern Precinct of Cape Town City Centre.
  • Observatory – The SAAO promotes astronomy and astrophysics in Southern Africa, by sharing research findings and discoveries.

  • Diamond Works – The Diamond Works Institute is a diamond and jewellery expert in South Africa. We specialize in diamonds, cutting, grading, jewellery & diamond tours.
  • Planetarium – The Iziko Planetarium and Digital Dome, one of only 6 fully fledged planetaria on the African Continent, brings the most advanced digital visualisation technology to Cape Town.
  • Rosen Castle (Curro) – The Rosen Castle Kiddies Activity Centre is an interactive centre where children between the ages of five and nine years old learn a variety of life, business and technical skills through role play, under the supervision of trained guides.

  • Mosterts Mill – The windmill, known as Mostert’s Mill on de Waal Drive (M3) at Mowbray Cape Town is the only working windmill in Africa, south of the Sahara. In the beginning, windmills constructed at the Cape were often damaged by the strong winds.
